Abstract
The infraorbital nerve originates from the maxillary nerve after entering the inferior orbital fissure. The infraorbital nerve innervates the somatic sensation of the anterior portion of the upper alveolus and the middle third of the face. Pathologic conditions of the nerve may cause severe facial pain, termed as trigeminal neuralgia. However in some cases, the structural causes of trigeminal neuralgia remain unclear. Here, we report a case presenting as trigeminal neuropathic pain and hypesthesia, with a final diagnosis of infraorbital neuralgia caused by a postoperative maxillary cyst (POMC).
